Dress Code

The St. John Bosco Catholic School Standardized Dress Code shall be worn to school each day. All articles of clothing shall be solid blue, black and white in colour, as specified below.

  • Clothing shall be free of any writing, logos or pictures
  • Bottoms shall not include jeans, leggings/jeggings, and yoga pants
  • Logo on clothing must be smaller than a loonie
  • As per board policy, St. John Bosco Spirit Wear items will be allowed as part of the Dress Code from JK-Gr.8

Girls Bottom

  • Black or navy pants (Including corduroy and cargo pants), track pants (no yoga pants, leggings, no logos)
  • Black or navy skirt, skort, tunic, dress, capris or walking shorts
  • No short shorts / skirts are permitted

Boys Bottom

  • Black or navy pants (Including corduroy and cargo pants), track pants (NO tear away pants, no logos)
  • Black or navy walking shorts, longer gym shorts solid colour

Tops

  • Solid white or black or navy t-shirt, golf shirt, turtleneck or long-sleeved polo
  • St. John Bosco Spirit Wear
  • Solid black or navy zip polo sweater, sweatshirt, hoodie, cardigans tops, vests are optional – no logos
  • No halter tops, tank tops (straps must be 3 fingers wide), spaghetti straps, muscle tops, tube tops or tops with low neckline, no logos
For all boys and girls tops and bottoms, no logos, language or pictures that indicate violence, profanity or discrimination of any kind and no accessories not in keeping with the spirit of the Dress Code as determined by administration will be permitted.

No restrictions on:

  • Footwear
  • Gym clothes
  • Outdoor clothing
The policy will apply when students are on school premises and participating on school related outings or trips.

Please note that the standardized dress code will be shared with all students so that they are clearly aware of our expectations. When students choose not to wear an appropriate clothing item the following progressive approach will be used:

  • Verbal reminders of expectations
  • Communication with parent / guardian
  • Written notification to parent / guardian by the Principal or designate outlining the Dress Code expectations
